Electrically powered straddle carriers are quicker and easier to maintain because the diesel engines in traditionally powered straddle carriers are typically the most maintenance-intensive part of the machine. Electric straddle carriers can also cut your fuel bills, as they are emission free and more cost-effective.
All of our Electric Straddle Carriers are fitted with the latest most technically advanced lithium-ion batteries designed especially for heavy equipment, they can operate for up to 600 minutes and be charged in 45-50 minutes using a plug-in Megawatt Charging System or our hands free Kalmar FastChargeTM. When used in combination with MCS and FastCharge you can further boost the availability of your electric straddle carriers by employing continuous “hot seat” operations.
Electrically powered solutions are usually available as a one size fits all, which you need to build your business around. Not any longer, as our offering provides a flexible solution that can be easily adapted to your requirements. With Kalmar you get a choice of charging options:
CCS charging fitted as standard. All Kalmar Electric Straddle Carriers are ready to be charged with a standard plug-in CCS charging unit, either supplied through Kalmar or other manufacturers. These can be located near break or holding areas, wherever is most convenient to charge your equipment.
MCS charging as an option. With an optional plug-in Megawatt Charging System you can now re-charge quickly as this system has been specifically designed to charge heavy duty electric equipment and complies with the new international standard.
Kalmar FastCharge™ as an option. The hands-free Kalmar FastCharge™ System uses strategically placed pantograph charging stations in your yard to opportunity charge your battery quickly during idle or downtime in your regular workflow, so your straddle carrier can stay in operation for a full shift.
Kalmar SmartCharge. Automatically assigns charging tasks to the equipment operator, to avoid queues at charging stations and ensure the highest utilisation rates at your charging points.
MyKalmar INSIGHT - eModule. In addition to providing real time operational data of your equipment fleet, the eModule allows you to monitor each of your electrically powered straddle carriers’ battery charging status and gives greater visibility to charging key performance indicators.
Kalmar One - Scheduler. Provides job scheduling and dispatching in automated terminals. Our Scheduler can assign charging tasks for automated equipment to minimise delays and use each charging point as efficiently as possible. This service is available for Kalmar AutoStrad™ only.
